Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue provides service to portions of Unincorporated Adams County, Unincorporated Arapahoe County, and the Municipality of Bennett, Colorado but is not a division of any of those governmental entities. Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue is an independent Colorado special district (more formally known as a fire protection district). Special Districts are formed to provide fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services to a specific geographic area. They are created under Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.) Title 32, which governs special districts. Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue is governed by its own publicly elected board of directors including a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, and two Directors. The Board provides financial oversight and establishes District policy. The Board of Directors meet every second Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm at our Administrative Office, located at 355 4th Street in the Town of Bennett.

Notice of Board Vacancy

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.) § 32-1-808, notice is hereby given that a vacancy exists on the Board of Directors for the Bennett-Watkins Fire Protection District #7. 

Qualified electors of the District interested in serving on the Board may submit a Letter of Interest to:

To qualify, applicants must be registered voters of the State of Colorado and either:

• Reside within the boundaries of the District, 
• Owns (or is the spouse or civil union partner of someone who owns) taxable real or personal property located within the District.

Letters of Interest must be received by October 29th, 2025.
The Board of Directors will review submissions and may appoint a qualified individual to fill the vacancy at its next regular meeting on November 20th, 2025.
