Fire Academy

Collage showcasing a fire academy: firefighters training with flames, tools, and teamwork to prepare for emergency situations.

Fire Academy is the cornerstone of all the knowledge firefighters learn throughout their career.

It is here that our Recruits are taught the basic skills and knowledge of the craft, and it is here that they come to know the dangers, physical and mental demands, and rewards of the Fire Service.

Our Fire Academy runs from January - August.
No Fire Academy for 2025.

It is held twice a week with classroom sessions on Tuesday/Thursday Nights from 6-10 and Skills Day sessions on Saturday from 8-5.

In the first six months at Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue you will have to dedicate over 300 hours to your training.

  • 200+ hours for fire academy
  • 40 hours for EMS
  • 16 hours of ICS
  • 40 hours for Hazmat
